A Plethora of Peas

Peas have arrived.  The past week has been all peas, all the time.  Sugar Snap Peas were the most productive type this week, although Snow Peas are also coming in strong.  English Peas are still developing, but we
have harvested some.  The shot above has Sugar Snaps in the middle, English Peas on the right, and Snow Peas on the left.
The Sugar Snaps are delicious this year, especially when they get plump with full-size peas inside. That's when they are the sweetest to me.  I like them raw.  Cooked sugar snaps seem diminished, and a touch slimy.
Snow peas, on the other hand, cook up nicely.  A stir-fry of snow peas is a delicious thing.  To make more space in the fridge and preserve the harvest, I blanched and froze 4 pounds of snow peas this weekend.
This was a huge harvest from Saturday, with spinach and strawberries in addition to the 3 varieties of peas.  In the past week, I've picked 17 and a half pounds of peas from the garden.

  1. That is a lot of peas. And when I could eat them, I used to eat snap peas raw too. They were so good. Sometimes I'd make a dip for them, but other times I'd just eat them.
